They are chilled before serving and are a popular treat across Canada and beyond. They're often found in bakeries, cafes, and dessert shops in Nanaimo and throughout Canada. ”

“ What is the best way to end a day after being out on a ferry, having dinner of a floating restaurant and taking a swim in the ocean? It is sitting along the waterfront enjoying a sweet treat! They carry a variety of flavour a of ice cream -yes, they have Nanaimo bar ice cream! They also carry black licorice ice cream which was apparently delicious. I had to have a Nanaimo bar while I was in Nanaimo! You can choose from a small slice or a large piece. They carry candies and also sell other treats like floats. Grab a treat, go sit outside and enjoy listening to the buskers. ”

“ This is such a fantastic little stop in such a beautiful place! The harbour is a perfect spot to enjoy a cold treat, and they have so many ice cream flavours to choose from! The staff was also incredibly friendly and personable! 10/10 would recommend this place! :) ”

“ Came here just to try the Nainaimo bar. States it has the "original" recipe. Only tried the bar to compare, but has an ice cream option. Obviously visited by locals and visitors. Nanaimo bar had an oily custard on top of a Oreo cookie like base with small flakes of Oreo. The proportion of base to custard to ganache was mostly base, which was 1 inch thick. Ganache was the least part of the bar. Overall, something to try but depending on your taste, may not be my favourite. Shop also has variety of old school and new candy and a good selection of ice cream for those hot days. ”

“ The ice cream was so good that we went twice during our 3 days on the island. Loved that they had a gluten free cone! The service was outstanding! ”

“ Real ice cream shop with some of the nicest staff. Made fresh in-store and many flavors available. Two evenings we ordered different cones, including Nanaimo Bar scoops in a waffle cone. If we stayed more nights probably would make this store our home base. Definitely believe quality products are hard to find and support these great licks that do have a fair market price. And if we wanted mass production products that are ho-hum, we could have chosen a lesser grade ice-milk business store. ”
